Home REPAIR program
Rebuilding Together Atlanta is now accepting applications for the City of Smyrna Home Repair Program.
Our City of Smyrna Home Repair Program consists of major home repairs for older residents who lack the financial wherewithal to address major health and safety issues in their homes. Using the national evidence-based Safe and Healthy Housing standards, Rebuilding Together Atlanta conducts home assessments while developing scopes of work designed to ensure the most important repair needs are met for each home.

EXAMPLES OF REPAIRS PROVIDED-Limit of $10,000 per home
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system repair or replacement
- Exterior doors and window replacements, insulation
- Electrical rewiring, including breakers, receptacles, GFCI, switches, and plates
- Roof Replacements
- Deck replacement
- Soffits, fascia, boots, and caps
- Gutter repair and replacement
- Plumbing-sewer repairs or replacement
- Bath or kitchen appliance replacements (when health and safety related)
- Electrical repairs and upgrades
- Ramps
- Bathroom modifications
- Walk in showers
- Chair lifts
- Accessibility improvements to accommodate disabled persons and/or make medical accommodations
- Other items, as determined by City of Smyrna/RTA staff
Repairs funded under this program must be health and safety related. Ineligible expenses include the repair, purchase, or installation of: household appliances which are designed and manufactured to be freestanding; recreational items such as barbecues, bathhouses etc; Luxury items such as flower boxes, awnings, patios, decks, storage sheds; Materials, fixtures, and installations which are considered luxury in nature; Repairs intended to upgrade existing materials, fixtures, and installations
Rebuilding Together can complete other items through Rebuild Volunteer Events on a case by case basis. Those include
- Yard Clean Up
- Decluttering
- Exterior Painting
- Landscaping


BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for our City of Smyrna Home Repair Program, homeowners must:
- Be at least 62 years old or have a disability;
- Meet low-income household qualifications for very low or extremely low income individuals;
- Own and reside in a home located in the City of Smyrna;
- Provide:
- Proof of income for all residents living in the home,
- Proof of homeownership (i.e., property tax, mortgage statement, or deed to the home),
- Proof of homeowner's insurance,
- Two (2) recent utility bills in the homeowner's name; and
- Receive city services from the City of Smyrna.
- Must stay in the home for 2 years after repairs being made
